What is CBD?

CBD, short for Cannabidiol, is a natural, non-psychoactive compound found in the hemp plant. CBD is one cannabinoid, out of many. There are over 100 known and studied cannabinoids found in the hemp plant. That number also continues to grow as cannabis research increases. Other popular cannabinoids include THC, CBN, CBG and so forth.

In order to comprehend the potential health benefits of CBD, one must understand its effects on bodily function, which begins with understanding our ‘Endocannabinoid System.’

Cannabidiol (CBD) and all the other cannabinoids are processed and interactive with our ‘Endocannabinoid System.’ This internal system was discovered during research of the marijuana plant, when doctors were trying to understand why cannabis produced an intoxicating, ‘high’ effect. The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) was named at the time of discovery because it was the first time they had come to know of this intricate system of receptors, which fired neurons in almost every organ of the body. That is why cannabinoids offer potential health benefits in a range of whole-body uses.

The endocannabinoid system is extremely important for our bodies overall functioning. It is responsible for two basic activities:

Modulating pleasure, energy,

and well-being.

Gradually nudging the body back to health in the face of injury and disease.

What the two of these bodily activities are working to achieve is ‘homeostasis.’

Homeostasis is the ability for the body to seek and maintain equilibrium, or stability within its internal environment, when it is compromised by external changes. It involves the maintenance of the constant internal environment, which includes the function of the kidney, liver, skin, etc…

For our endocannabinoid system to function at an optimal level and achieve homeostasis, CBD uptake is necessary. Our bodies produce cannabinoids naturally, but at very low levels. Increasing your cannabinoid levels will increase your body’s natural ability to fight disease, recover from injury, and improve functionality.

There are health benefits to using CBD products. The use of CBD has become so popular because of its ability to assist each user on an individual basis. The CBD interacts with the unique receptors which its user’s body is particularly needing assistance with. That is why two people could take the same CBD product but have a different experience. This makes dosing and usage harder to regulate. Start with small doses of CBD and listen to your body. Allow up to two weeks of daily continued use before changing your dosage or seeking a different alternative.

CBD is not approved or regulated by the FDA. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical related issues. CBD is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any diseases. Due to the FDA regulations of cannabis and hemp products, we are sometimes unable to tell you all about the benefits of CBD, but be sure to conduct your own research online. We do not attempt to make any health-related claims as it relates to people taking our products.

The process of a fresh green hemp plant transforming into CBD oil or other CBD products is a very important aspect of the industry, including the brands and products whose sheer existence relies on it. CBD and all the other cannabinoids are extracted from the plant in its natural form to produce ‘extracts’. There are a few extraction methods that produce the ready-made CBD products available from Purelistic CBD on our website and in stores. All of our products originate in the United States, from high quality, reputable industrial hemp farms. The hemp is also extracted here in the United States, with methods of the highest quality assurance and safety. Our extraction processes include CO2 extraction and solvent extraction. When executed properly, these methods are safe, potent and chlorophyll-free.

When hemp is extracted using CO2 extraction, the end result is a thick, condensed, honey-like product. Full Spectrum oil contains all of the cannabinoids and other natural compounds found in the hemp plant, including nutrients, terpenes, and amino acids. Most of the cannabinoids don’t exist in large enough concentrations to have any noticeable effect, but CBD concentration can be as high as 40% in CBD rich industrial hemp.

All of our CBD products contain less than 0.3% THC, which is the psychoactive cannabinoid most commonly associated with cannabis or marijuana. Any hemp or cannabis product containing less than 0.3% THC is considered legal and non-intoxicating. We make sure that all of our extracts and products are tested by a third-party source, to guarantee its potency and safety. The tests analyze the contents of our products on a microbial level and evaluate the potency, volume, terpene levels, and clearance from heavy metals, toxins and pesticides. Allowing a trustworthy and credible third-party laboratory to analyze our products is our commitment to gaining trust and clear communication about the products we are providing to you.
